Client base

We work for individuals, companies and local authorities on both small and larger scale assignments.  Our reports are bespoke, each one being tailored to a particular issue.  In recent years we have provided consulting arborist services to:

  • Individual clients
  • Architects and developers
  • Local Authorities
  • Surveyors and managing agents

Single Client/Individual

In recent times we have helped individual clients with issues such as:

  • Tree Safety Reports to fulfil their Duty of Care
  • Tree management, often avoiding unnecessary and expensive works
  • Preparing BS 5837 reports in support of planning applications
  • Preparing a work specification for a tree(s) subject to TPO protection
  • Preparing a work specification for a tree(s) located in a designated Conservation Area and entering the formal notification of intent
  • Providing a tree report to refute allegations that a tree was hazardous and should be cut back (this would have harmed the tree).

Architects and Developers

We mostly work with architects and developers to prepare BS 5837 Reports to accompany planning applications.  Our work begins at the pre-application stage and can continue through to the discharge of planning conditions.  Recently we have advised on special methods of driveway construction to enable access through the root protection area of a protected tree.

Our services in planning related matters include:

  • Production of BS 5837 compliant reports to accompany planning applications
  • Use of the BS 5837 report to help discharge planning conditions
  • Advising on special construction methods for works within tree root protection areas
  • Meeting with Local Planning Authority Officers to resolve site issues

Local Authorities

We work with Local Authorities on various issues mostly relating to tree safety and Duty of Care issues.  In recent years our services to Local Authorities have included:

  • Tree safety surveys
  • Production of medium-term tree management plans
  • Production of a tree condition report relating to a tree that failed and caused personal injury

Retirement Homes and similar organisations

We provide management advice to the administrators of housing complexes who wish to fully discharge their ‘Duty of Care’ and liabilities under the Occupiers Liability Act (1957 and 1984 [as amended]).  In these instances we develop Tree Management Plans.  Recently we have worked for a Retirement village to prepare:

  • A tree risk management plan for the housing areas;
  • A woodland management plan for woodland within a conservation area.
